A note for the English Guests: Differences between English and French weddings

(As you can see from above they are relatively similar, but to save a little bit of confusion, here are some pointers...)

-Please RSVP by 10th May.

-The marriage ceremony in the church is not recognised by the french state, so we will be married on Thursday in the Mairie.

-Instead of a best man/ushers/ bridesmaids the bridal party is composed of witnesses 'les  témoins'

- The congregation leave the church before the bride and groom. The congregation then greet the couple as they exit the church

-Supper might be later than you are used to in the UK, but there is substantially more food in the drinks reception/ 'cocktail'. (Despite the name the classic drink at the cocktail is champagne.)

-There will be a cheese course after the main course, before desert. (With the local specialty of Fromage Frais served with sugar/coulis (there will be additional cheeses at the evening party.)

- French parties finish later...
